Colordyne Technologies (CDT) has announced its new CDT 3600 Series, which joins the company’s Production Class family of digital printing systems as a full-featured process color digital label and tag production platform. The Memjet-powered 3600 features an enhanced precision web handling system, which provides flexibility and modularity supporting custom configurations and easy upgradeability across all the major assemblies. Key to the 3600 is a new print engine, which provides speeds up to 225 feet per minute (69 meters per minute) at full color resolutions with up to 1600 x 1375 dpi. The system incorporates broad web substrate support and management through a partnership with PCMC to provide the Servo Drive system; LasX a provider of laser diecutting systems; and the new Aspen print engine featuring Memjet Waterfall Technology. The key benefit for converters is the ability to update the core subassemblies as customer requirements changes or new technology becomes available, thus the system can be considered evergreen in nature. The product also brings several benefits to the Production Class Digital Color Printing System including, but not limited to, enhanced print quality; increased resolution of 1600 x 1375 dpi; drastically reduced RIP times; speeds up to 225 feet per min (69 meters per min); and a more user-friendly user interface. “Our goal with the CDT 3600 was to develop a press system built on a platform co-developed using the best technologies available, but provide an ongoing upgrade path for our customer so new modules can cost effectively be provided in the future,” says Gary Falconbridge, CEO and president of Colordyne Technologies. “With over 20-years development experience in the market, we listened to our clients, and we think this new press will hit the mark in offering increased productivity through a powerful feature set and providing a market leading total cost of ownership.” “Colordyne is one of the market innovators and we’re ecstatic to see the new CDT 3600 become available to high volume label converters leveraging the most recently available Aspen print engine from Memjet,” says Judd Quimby, VP of business development at Memjet. “This digital web press is by far the most technologically advanced, offering speed, performance, ease-of-use benefits far beyond flexo presses.”
